Millville Elite recently competed in the EDP Summer Showcase Tournament at Tuckahoe Turf Farm in Hammonton, NJ. EDP Showcase Tournaments draw the top youth soccer teams from across the entire Mid-Atlantic Region. The Elite, a small club team from a small town in South Jersey, lived up to their name by going 4-0 over the two day span to win the U15 girls championship. Competing against teams from both New York and Pennsylvania, Millville scored 16 goals and posted four straight shutouts.

 

In the championship match vs World Class FC from NY, Millville truly took their play to another level. Angelina Maineiro and the entire back line led by center-back Julianna Giordano and anchored by their keeper Julia Holland were outstanding in their ability to contain a well balanced attack by the opposition. Olivia Giordano scored the opener on an amazing volley off a cross from outside back Mary Greco. Greco would later score a goal of her own, this time from just outside the midfield stripe on a blast that would eventually clear the opposing keeper.

 

While Olivia Giordano led all scorers with 5 total goals, 6 other players joined her on the tally sheet proving that this was a total team effort. Goal scorers were: San'aa Doss (2), Reese Sheppard (2), Julianna Giordano (2), Mary Greco (2), Jayme Sooy (2) and Karli Jones
